On March 7, 2024, the Director of the Service for Foreignersā Affairs, Mr. Žarko Laketa, together with his Deputy, Mr. Almin ImamoviÄ, held a productive meeting with the Mayor of BihaÄ, Mr. Elvedin SediÄ, in order to discuss the improvement of the infrastructure of the Temporary Reception Center Lipa, and discussed the current migrant situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The topic of the meeting was aimed at improving living conditions for the camp's users, with a special focus on infrastructure projects. Asphalting of the part of the road leading to the camp was discussed, which would make access to the center much easier for its users and employees, as well as for humanitarian organizations that regularly provide support.
During the meeting, the Director Laketa and the Mayor SediÄ discussed in detail a number of issues affecting migration flows in our country and the impact of migration on local communities. They discussed the need for better coordination between different levels of government and international organizations, as well as the importance of finding sustainable solutions that respect the rights of migrants and strive for integration and protection.
Mayor SediÄ expressed his full support for efforts to improve conditions for migrants, emphasizing that BihaÄ, as a city located on one of the main migration routes, plays a key role in managing this complex situation.
Through joint efforts, the goal is to create a safer and more humane environment for all involved, and to show solidarity and empathy towards those who need it most. Therefore, this meeting confirmed the commitment of all parties to continuous work on improving the quality of life in the Temporary Reception Center Lipa, which represents a key step forward in the management of migration flows in BiH.
