Today, the Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Mr. Žarko Laketa, received a visit from the representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, Alfredo Strippoli, the Head of Rule of Law Section, and Samir Hadžimusić, an Advisor in the Rule of Law Section.
The topic of the meeting was migration management in BiH, within the framework of 14 Key Priorities from the European Commission's opinion on BiH's request for EU membership.
Mr. Strippoli passed to Director Laketa the statements in this year's Report of the European Commission for BiH 2023, related to the migration management policy in BiH, especially that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to strengthen the capacities and efficiently manage the multi-purpose reception and identification center in Lipa, established with the support of EU in 2021.
And, fully respecting basic human rights, domestic legislation and international standards, including with regard to screening and registration, and the protection of vulnerable persons and detention.
Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, Mr. Žarko Laketa, informed the Delegation of the fact that the Service for Foreigners' Affairs had drafted a proposal for a Decision on the establishment of Temporary Reception Centers, which defined the purpose and manner of functioning of the newly built unit in TRC Lipa.
The proposal of the Decision was submitted to the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH for coordination and further actions.
The meeting was successfully concluded, to mutual satisfaction, with the expressed intention to continue cooperation between the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, and the Delegation of the European Union.
