Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Mr. Žarko Laketa Director of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners, together with his Deputy, Mr. Almin Imamović, during an official visit to Bihać, met with Mr. Nijaz Hušić, Prime Minister of the Unsko-Sana Canton.
Director Laketa emphasized that one of the 14 key priorities for the initiation of the accession negotiations of BiH with the European Union refers precisely to ensuring the efficient functioning of the border, migration and asylum management system.
In the field of migration management, positive progress was achieved when BiH institutions began to assume a leading role in the management and coordination of migration processes, it was confirmed in the conversation.
The cantonal authorities in the Una-Sana Canton, within their jurisdiction, will support a comprehensive transition plan towards state management with a mixed response to migration, and partnership cooperation and coordination will continue to be necessary in managing migration, in order to avoid crisis situations.
That is why the Una-Sana Canton expresses its willingness to further improve cooperation with higher levels of government and services in charge of migration management, in order to ensure the continuity of a stable situation, ensuring respect for the rights of persons on the move who are in transit through this area and, above all, the safety of the citizens of BiH.
