Director

Žarko Laketa was born on 22 August 1965, in Nevesinje. He enrolled at the School of Internal Affair (majoring in Policeman - Traffic Control Technician) in Sarajevo, in 1981. After graduation in 1985, he went to Belgrade for further education. He graduated from the Military Academy - Land Forces (majoring in Military Police) in 1989, when his police career began.

In his work so far, he performed tasks and activities according to all lines of work., from a police officer to various management positions: Commander of Police Station, Chief of the Center of Public Safety, Police Inspector, Commander Assistant, Inspector for Suppression of General Crime, Platoon Commander - Teacher at High School for International Affairs, Inspector for Control of Movement and Stay of Foreigner, Deputy Commander, Chief of Centre of Public Safety, Assistant Director for Organization and Operation of the BiH Border Police.

For his work as Assistant Director for Organization and Operation at the BiH Border Police, he was awarded with Golden Police Badge by the Ministry of Security of BiH.

He held the position of Chief of the Centre of Public Safety Trebinje from 1 July 2015, after which he became an Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska on 25 January 2019. He was appointed to the position of Advisor to the Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH on 3 February 2020.

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the 2nd session held on 9 February 2023, adopted a Decision on appointment of the Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, by which he was appointed as the Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs for a term of five years.
He is married, father of three children.
