The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, the BiH Border Police and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina prevented human trafficking

The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, and the BiH Border Police, during the control of goods and passengers of the regular bus line at border crossing point Brod, detected and identified a victim of international human trafficking through detailed analysis. In coordination with the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, they identified a victim, a five- year -old girl accompanied by the foreign national who was detained in the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, according to the order of acting prosecutor.

The visa-free stay of the mentioned person was canceled and a measure of expulsion was imposed , pursuant to the Law on Foreigners , and measure of surveillance was imposed to the aforesaid person thus he was placed at the Immigration Center in Istočno Sarajevo.

The girl was adequately cared for, and placed in a safe house, in accordance with judicial guidelines for the protection of victims of human trafficking . The special guardian was assigned to her, for children, unaccompanied foreign children and victims of child trafficking.

The aforesaid girl is in the search database for persons wanted by international institutions, and the acting prosecutor is in constant communication with the competent prosecutors’ office and the police in Wiesbaden- Germany, and the activities are being undertaken in order to return child to her mother.

The BiH Prosecutor’s Office thanked the inspectors of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs for their efficient and professional cooperation in these activities.
