On April 30, 2024, Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Mr. Žarko Laketa, Director of the BiH Border Police, Mr. Mirko Kuprešaković, Director of State Investigation Protection Agency, Mr. Darko Ćulum and Assistant Director for Organization and Operations at the BP of BiH, Mr. Dragan Kulić, met with Assistant Director for Special Operations of the MoI of Republic of Serbia, General Dejan Luković, at the International Border Crossing Karakaj.
The reason for the visit to the border crossing and working meeting is organized crime related to the criminal acts of smuggling and human trafficking.
At the meeting, Director Laketa highlighted the excellent cooperation between the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, and partner agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and emphasized that continuous cooperation at the state level, as well as with neighboring countries is extremely important. Only by joint cooperation and operational action more frequent executions of criminal acts by organized criminal groups due to the people smuggling can be prevented.
It was concluded at the meeting that joint activities will be intensified, it was agreed to strengthen joint patrols, raise cooperation to a higher level, commanders are in charge for continuous exchange of information and informing the management on all issues. Further operational steps aimed at breaking the chain of organized crime were also agreed upon.
