On July 3. 2024, the Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, Mr. Žarko Laketa, together with his associates , held a working meeting with the Chief Director of the Police of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Nikola Milina and his associates in Zagreb.
At the previous meeting, a high degree of cooperation and understanding between the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia was confirmed. During today’s meeting, further improvement of this cooperation was discussed.
Director Laketa emphasized the dedication of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the implementation of the readmission agreement with the Republic of Croatia, as well as the quick and professional response and treatment of migrants who try to cross the border illegally.
It was concluded that the cooperation in the past more than a year was at a high level, and that is necessary to further improve it. They also discussed the current migration situation, noting that migration is still active.
Further plans to prevent illegal migration were agreed upon, including certain joint activities. Also, it was agreed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, through certain activities and international projects, will help the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, through training for our officials and provision of financial and material resources through international partners.
This meeting represents another step towards strengthening cooperation and joint action with the aim of more efficient management of migration and the fight against illegal migration.
