The Delegation of the European Union to BiH, together with Constance Jardim from the European Commission last week visited Temporary Reception Center, Blažuj. The representatives of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, headed by Director Žarko Laketa, welcomed them, together with Michael O’Mahony, the Deputy Head of Mission of the IOM in BiH, representing the IOM staff. This was followed by a tour of the center, during which the hosts introduced the participants to the functioning of the center, and presented the capacities, challenges and experiences in the response to the migration in BiH. Partner organizations also had an opportunity to present their engagement within the center.
During the visit, the delegation also visited the area for migrant registration and health screening, and in the clinic, the health services for migrants within the center were presented. They toured the kitchen and dining area, as well as the warehouse from which essential products are distributed to beneficiaries. Particular attention was paid to the capacity of the solution for the autumn, and during the visit, future plans for the reorganization of the center within the framework of the transition were also discussed.
TRC Blažuj was established with the financial support of the European Union, which has been supporting its smooth functioning since the very beginning. The visit was organized as part of the continuous support that the EU provides for migration management in BiH.
