Joint operational action in the area of ​​Sarajevo and Novi Grad: Two persons of security concern have been detained

The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, acting on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in coordination with the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska, conducted a joint operational action in the area of ​​Sarajevo and Novi Grad.

During the implementation of the action, the members of the SFA, acting within their legal authority, located two persons of security concern in the area of ​​Sarajevo, a citizen of Iraq, who represents a threat to the national security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a citizen of Pakistan. Both persons are involved in the smuggling chain, and can be linked to the organized smuggling of migrants on the Western Balkan migrant route.

The persons have been deprived of their liberty, extradition measures were imposed against them from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and they were placed under surveillance at the Immigration Center of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, where they will stay until they are removed from the country.

In the coming period, the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs will, in cooperation with the competent institutions, continue with the implementation of coordinated activities aimed at suppressing organized migrant smuggling networks on the Western Balkans migrant route.
