A regional meeting of the heads of the border police of the Western Balkan countries is being held in Skopje with the aim of strengthening coordination in the field of border management and migration.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is represented at this important gathering by the Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Mr. Žarko Laketa, and the Director of the BiH Border Police, Mr. Mirko Kuprešković, together with their associates.
The aim of the meeting is to improve inter-institutional cooperation in the field of border management, suppression of illegal migration and strengthening coordination in the regional response to current migration challenges, through the exchange of relevant information, experiences and good practices
In addition to the representatives of the countries of the Western Balkans, the delegations of the member states of the European Union - the Republic of Romania and the Republic of Bulgaria - participate in the work of the meeting, which actively contribute to regional efforts in the process of harmonizing with European standards and strengthening institutional capacities for border and migration management.
This meeting represents an important contribution to establishing sustainable cooperation mechanisms, building mutual trust, and preserving security and stability in the region, through a joint and coordinate approach in the area of border and migration management.
