MEETING BETWEEN THE DIRECTOR LAKETA AND EUFOR COMMANDER

Strengthening security and an efficient response to contemporary migration challenges require

continuous cooperation between domestic institutions and international partners, it was concluded during the meeting of Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs Žarko Laketa, and EUFOR Commander in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Maurizio Fronda.

During the meeting, information was exchanged on the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, with special emphasis on migration movements, migration management and the challenges posed by modern migration flows.

The EUFOR Commander was briefed on current migration trends in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the activities that the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs continuously implements, and the role and importance that this institution has within the security system of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Special attention was paid to the measures that the competent institutions are taking to preserve security, protect public order and strengthen capacities for efficient migration management.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of open dialogue, timely exchange of relevant information and inter-institutional cooperation as key prerequisites for successfully facing security challenges.

The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs remains committed to further improving institutional capacities, developing efficient migration management mechanisms and strengthening cooperation with local and international partners in order to preserve the security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
