The Service for Foreigners’ Affairs is continuing intensive operational activities aimed at combating illegal migration and detecting the illegal presence of foreign nationals within the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During targeted inspection in the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo on June 30, 2026, inspectors from the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs discovered 19 foreign nationals staying in a facility used for illegal accommodation. These individuals were nationals of Bangladesh Pakistan, and Ghana who did not meet the requirements for legal stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A large number of travel documents belonging to the foreign nationals were also found during the inspection; in accordance with legal procedures, these will be returned to the relevant diplomatic-consular missions—specifically, the respective embassies.
Following the measures taken within the SFA ‘s jurisdiction, the foreign nationals were transferred to the Blažuj Temporary Reception Center for further processing in accordance with applicable regulations, while measures prescribed by law and misdemeanor sanctions were imposed on the facility’s owner.
The ongoing results of these activities confirm the commitment of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs to preventing migration related abuses, protecting the legality of foreign nationals’ stays, and contributing to the overall security of Bosnia and Herzegovina through consistent and enhanced inspections.
